Frequently Asked Questions

INSURANCE AND PAYMENT INFO

Do you take insurance?

  • Yes! Purely Nourished now accepts both insurance and self-pay clients.

  • I am currently in-network with:

    • Aetna / Meritain: Now accepting patients

    • UnitedHealthcare: Approved; expected to begin accepting patients mid September 2026.

    • First Choice Health: In-network status anticipated around the end of October

    • Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO networks: Including Regence, Premera, Anthem, Asuris, BridgeSpan, HMA, RGA, and others — anticipated around November

    • Cigna & Kaiser PPO: Credentialing in progress; effective dates TBD

  • I am currently accepting insurance-based clients in Oregon, Washington, and California, with availability in Arizona, Colorado, Virginia, and select additional states depending on state requirements and licensure.

  • Insurance coverage for nutrition services varies by individual plan. Eligibility and benefits will be verified prior to your first insurance-billed appointment.

Prefer to self-pay?

  • No problem. You do not need to use insurance to work with me. Self-pay options remain available, including individual nutrition visits and longer-term nutrition support packages. Self-pay can also be a great option if your insurance does not cover nutrition services or you prefer a service that isn't eligible for insurance billing.

  • Not sure which option makes sense for you? Submit an inquiry and we can determine whether I work with your insurance and what your options are before getting started.

Are laboratory tests covered by insurance?

  • Laboratory testing is offered on a cash-pay basis. I provide labs at my direct practitioner cost whenever possible to help keep testing affordable. Many laboratory companies also accept HSA/FSA cards and offer flexible payment options, including interest-free payment plans.

How long are appointments?

  • Initial nutrition consultations are typically 60–75 minutes, with follow-up visits lasting 45–60 minutes, depending on your needs and the type of visit.

Do you see clients in person?

  • Most appointments are conducted virtually through secure telehealth, allowing me to work with clients across multiple states.

  • For clients located in the greater Bend, Oregon area, limited in-person appointments may be available upon request.

What states do you see clients?

  • I currently work with clients in most U.S. states and Canada. Availability depends on state regulations and licensure requirements. If you're unsure whether I can work with you, please reach out—I'm happy to let you know.

Who do you work with?

  • I primarily work with outdoor athletes and active adults looking to improve digestion, optimize sports performance, and support long-term health through personalized nutrition. While digestive health and performance nutrition are my primary areas of expertise, I also work with a variety of clinical nutrition concerns including women's health, metabolic health, and autoimmune conditions.

  • If you're unsure whether your concerns are a good fit, I'd be happy to discuss your goals during a discovery call.
